Recommending fishermen to comply with the regulation to overcome “yellow card” (11-07-2019)

Implementing the National Action Plan on combating Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated fishing (IUU fishing) to overcome the European Commission's “yellow card” and moving towards developing a sustainable fishery, the Directorate of Fisheries and the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) have advised fishermen to implement the regulations before going to sea.

Accordingly, each ship owner and fisherman should go through the following regulations: Fishing vessel must have a fishing license; hanging Vietnamese flags when operating; not violating illegal fishing; participating in salvage on the sea, protecting sovereignty and security at sea. Besides, captain must notify the fishing port at least one hour before landing; Fishing vessels exploiting outside Vietnamese waters must have codes issued by International Maritime Organizations and have approval documents or permits issued by the Directorate of Fisheries.
