The 42nd Meeting of the SEAFDEC Program Commitee (42PCM) and The 22nd Meeting of Fisheries Consultative Group of the ASEAN-SEAFDEC Strategic Partnership (22FCG/ASSP) in 2019 (18-11-2019)

These are annual meetings for ASEAN member countries and related organizations and supported by SEAFDEC to review and evaluate the activities of the Departments to make sure that there is complementation and not duplication among the Departments themselves, and between SEAFDEC and other organizations, whether national, regional or international, working in the same region, and that these activities carried out by the Departments should conform to those approved by the Council; To assist the Departments in Program formulation by advising on the needs and problems of Member Countries in the various fisheries fields, so that these needs can be considered in their programs of activity; To help SEAFDEC in drawing up long-term plans for the development of the Departments and the implementation of the objectives of SEAFDEC so that funding assistance can be properly planned and to examine the proposed programs of activity and financial allocations of the various Departments of SEAFDEC with the objective of ensuring that the needs of all Member Countries are justly reflected in them.
The 42nd Meeting of the SEAFDEC Program Commitee (42PCM) and The 22nd Meeting of Fisheries Consultative Group of the ASEAN-SEAFDEC Strategic Partnership (22FCG/ASSP) in 2019

The Forty-second Meeting of the Program Committee (42PCM) of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 11 to 13 November 2019 and hosted by the SEAFDEC Secretariat. The 42PCM was attended by the SEAFDEC Program Committee Members for Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam together with their respective delegations. Representatives from the collaborating partners of SEAFDEC namely: the Bay of Bengal Program Inter-Governmental Organization (BOBP-IGO); Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF); Gifu Prefectural Inland Fisheries Training Center in Japan; Sweden Embassy in Bangkok; and the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management (SwAM); observers from the National Fisheries Authority of Papua New Guinea and the USAID Oceans; as well as the SEAFDEC Secretary-General, Deputy Secretary-General, and Department Chiefs as ex-officio members of the SEAFDEC Program Committee together with officers from the SEAFDEC Secretariat and Departments, also attended the Meeting.

The Twenty-second Meeting of the Fisheries Consultative Group (FCG) of the ASEAN-SEAFDEC Strategic Partnership (ASSP) or 22FCG/ASSP was organized in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 14 to 15 November 2019. The agenda of the 22FCG/ASSP meeting included discussions on the programs and activities implemented by SEAFDEC in 2019 and those proposed for 2020 under the FCG/ASSP mechanism as endorsed by the SEAFDEC Program Committee at its Forty-second Meeting (42PCM) on 11-13 November 2019, the progress of other proposals implemented under the ASSP Framework as well as the policy considerations on issues of importance to the fisheries sector of the ASEAN-SEAFDEC Member Countries. The 22FCG/ASSP was attended by representatives from the ASEAN-SEAFDEC Member Countries, the representative from the ASEAN Secretariat, as well as the SEAFDEC Secretary-General, Deputy Secretary-General and senior officials of the SEAFDEC Secretariat and Departments.
